Annoyed

I've had bad train experiences before.

Last night was the worst of all.

A train broke down in the tunnel between NY and NJ. No trains were going in and out of the train station.

My original train I take was cancelled.

The train after that was cancelled.

The train 40 minutes after that was cancelled.

By 9:30 I had been there for almost 3 hours and nothing was moving. To make it worse it was only my train line that kept getting cancelled. Everyone else was just on Stand By.

I was tired, angry and most of all in pain. Because of everything happening with my knee I was dying. I can't stand for long periods of time and here I was at a train station with no place to sit.

I called my mom up in tears. She offered to come get my but by the time she would have gotten to the city and we would get home it would be so late and honestly it was just to much. Also I didn't want to make her do all that driving.

I decided to sleep in a hotel. It was like 200 dollars but you know what?

It was worth it.

I found out later that the service wasn't restored for another hour after I left and since everything was so backed up it would have taken me another hour just to get out of the station.

Instead I went to Macy's bought some clothes, then the drug store to get Toilet Trees, picked up dinner at Chipotle, and made my way to the hotel. I was in bed by 10:30.

If I didn't do that I would have still been at the train station waiting, and freaking out.

The hotel I stayed out was literally a few doors down from my building. I was able to sleep in much later than I usually do and I still got to work an hour and a half early.

I'm just sick of the trains being so messed up. At least once a week there is a problem. Is it really too much to ask for one week to go by without any problems??

Do any of you commute? Have you ever had something like this happen to you?

An open letter

Dear NJ Transit,

I thought we discussed this already?? You were going to be on your best behavior and not run late anymore!! Why the hell did it take me over THREE hours to get home last night? Three hours!!

I get home late enough as it is. This was just ridiculous. I usually get home at 8:30 every night. Last night? I didn’t walk in the door til 10:30. It took me over 2 hours to just get from NY Penn station to Newark. That’s only supposed to take 20 minutes!!

I am furious at you NJ Transit. You better man up and start running on time again. I was starving and practically in tears when I walked through that door last night. Does that make you happy?

I’m begging you. Please please never do that to me again.

Sincerely,

A very unhappy commuter

Commute from hell

Dear NJ Transit,

For the past 2 weeks you have cause me nothing but headaches. Is it possible for you to stop messing up and run on time for once? It’s bad enough when I’m late for work because I was stuck on the train for 2 hours, but canceling my train home the other night was NOT cool. I had to wait 30 minutes for the next train that was a local and 20 minutes longer then my normal train.

I get home from work late enough, I would much appreciate it if you could at least make an effort to not make it any later.

Sincerely,

Can’t stand getting home from work after 9 pm

Crazy week

First off I’m doing much better about my dog passing away. However I do still expect to see his face every time I come home. I guess that will take some getting used to.

Otherwise this week has been crazy busy for me. I have a lot of stuff to finish up before my vacation and it doesn’t seem to be slimming down. Every time I blink I feel as though there is more then before. The good news is, after Tuesday I have a nice 10-day vacation to relax. I can’t wait!!

Also it’s snowing like crazy right now!!!! I love snow, but right now I’m really worried about my commute home tonight. I’m sure the trains will be delayed and that will not be fun for me. I just want to get home as quickly as possible. Especially after the morning I had…

This morning on the train I was sleeping, and I woke up to a woman screaming hysterically and calling for a doctor to come. Her husband was having a Seizure. Only I didn’t know it as a seizure until after. For all I knew, it was a heart attack. The train had to be stopped; all these people came running up, it was very scary. And after the week I had, I was especially upset. I just wanted this guy to be Okay. Thankfully he was. The man decided to go to a hospital in the city so we continued our journey onward. It was the tensest commute of my life.

I am so happy this week is almost over.
