I suprise myself sometimes

Another crazy weekend came and went for me. I feel like summer is flying by! I have been going nonstop every single weekend and it's not slowing down anytime soon. Don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast, but I need to have a relaxing day soon or I'm going to flip! lol

My friend's wedding is finally this weekend!! I cannot wait!! I have been on a super strict diet for the last two weeks. I wanted to look great in my dress and feel comfortable and not like I couldn't breath. This past weekend was a huge test for me.

Saturday I ran a race in the morning. Did not so great. After races there is always a huge bbq going on. It was so hard to resist all the food they had there, but I held strong. I went home, showered and then got a much needed haircut. Then it was time for another BBQ that afternoon. I did surprisingly well food wise. I had two hot dogs, one with a bun and one without. A very small portion of mac and cheese but it was made with quinoa pasta so I felt less guilty. And a piece of chicken. I had no chips which is always my weakness. I ate a ton of fruit to keep myself from picking at the other goodies there. I'm pretty proud how I handled myself.

On Sunday I did a juice fast. I just wanted to see what it was about. My brother has been doing it for a while now. I have to say, while I wasn't hungry really that juice tasted TERRIBLE. bleh. And there's like little particles of fruits and veggies floating that gather at the bottom of the cup. Not good at all. I ended up going to a second BBQ that day and I didn't eat a single thing. I cannot believe my willpower sometimes. If I really set my mind to something, I pull it off extremely well.

After the wedding on Saturday, I plan on taking a little break from my strict diet. I have no intentions of gaining weight, I just want to enjoy my summer and not count every calorie. If all goes well I'll just maintain and all will be good. I literally cannot wait until then. I already have my first meal planned. lol. I'm going to go to this great Mexican place and then Ice Cream!! Whoo hooo!!

I really love my new Mixer! (Pictures)

I am so so happy I bought my KitchenAid Mixer! I was a cooking machine this weekend! For my first use of the mixer I wanted to try something really challenging. So I attempted to make a Cheese Souffle. I know they are hard and if they don't rise that basically means you failed. lol. I was actually surprised at how easy it was to make the souffle. Using the mixer to beat the egg whites helped immensely. Final result?

Success!!! My souffle rose and it was delicious!

Here is a picture of the final product.

Sorry it's so dark. But look how high it got!

On Sunday I was bored so I decided to try something else. I made biscotti. I'm not really a fan of biscotti (which is like a sin when your Italian), but my mom has been begging me to make it for a while now. This was pretty labor intensive and took a long time to make! I wasn't sure what I was doing the whole time either. I felt lost. However the final product looks great and my mom loved them! Yay! I didn't think to take a picture though. I am planning on making chocolate biscotti soon and I will make sure to take a picture then!

This weekend I heard that Santa would be at Petsmart and the money would be donated to charity. I just had to take my dogs. The Santa was really creepy looking, but I still love this picture! My dogs were terrified of Santa!

Here they are

I initially had no plans this weekend, but it ended up being jam packed and a lot of fun. I love weekends like this when I just went with whatever I felt like doing. It was really nice and I was still able to relax.

Happy Halloween!!!

I am trying to not stuff myself with candy all day!

Because of the snow this weekend, I didn't get to go to Fright Fest at Six Flags like I had planned. Which really bummed me out. I did however go see Paranormal Activity 3. While it was suspensful and scared me, the ending made no sense! I was furious with that ending!! NOTHING was explained. So annoying.

I hope you had better halloween plans! Did any of you dess up and go out?

I took a break from eating right and working out last week and I felt like total crap. It's crazy how my body craves working out and clean food now. I literally cannot go back to my old lifestyle.

Which is a good thing, but I miss being able to pig out sometimes. Although when I got on the scale I was not happy. At all. UGHH

Hopefully the few pounds I gained will quickly come off. Next week my gym is having a individual challenge. The person who loses the most weight over 6 weeks, and completes certain tasks wins $1,000!!! I am going to try my hardest to win!

I decided for the almost 6 weeks of the challenge I will not have any cheat meals, besides Thanksgiving. I really think I can do this! Wish me luck!

Candy Corn

I love Candy Corn.

Like I can eat an entire bag in one sitting, love.

Since I'm trying to get healthy, I refrain from buying anything that's really bad for you because I know that if it's in my house, I'll eat it. I have no willpower sometimes.

The other day I went into the store to pick something up real quick and there they were. My loves, Candy Corn. And a bag was only a buck!!!

The temptation was just too much, so I picked up the bag and had it with me while I got the other things I actually needed. When I got to the register, the little voice in my head finally kicked in. I realized that that bag would be gone by the time I went to bed. I've been doing so good lately and did I really want to throw it away for them!! (yes) However the voice won, and I put the bag down and checked out.

I thought about those damn things for the rest of the day. lol. I have a problem.

Anyway later that night I told my mom my struggle and how proud I was that I didn't give in. But damn did I want them!!!!!

The next day, I come home from the gym and on my dresser is a HUGE bag of Candy Corn!!!

WTF.

I thought I went crazy for a minute, until I realized my mother (aka the devil) felt bad that I didn't buy them and picked me up a bag when she was out! While I do know that she had the best intentions (she told me to only eat a little at a time), it was also like a slap in the face.

Sometimes I don't think my mom understands how much I struggle to get on the right track. Sometimes I think she tried to sabotage me. Not on purpose, but like deep down inside she doesn't want me to succeed. It could be because she's struggled with weight all her life too, and if she can't do it, then neither should I. Who knows...

What I do know, is that there is a big ass bag of candy corn taunting me in my room. I've only had a little bit (10 total I counted) but it took a huge effort to stop. If I hit my goal this week to lose 4 pounds, I will reward myself with another 10 corns.

I've decided to use the delicious bag of candy to my advantage and reward myself with a job well done each week. Here's hoping I don't cave in!!!

Do you have a food that you just can't resist? Do you ever feel like someone is trying to sabotage you?

ugh

Foot pain wise. Today is not a good day. I'm in a lot of pain. Maybe it's the rainy weather or what, but I just want to go home, prop up my foot and watch some movies. Alas I'm stuck in work allllll day.

Oddly, I am really missing the gym. With my foot, gym has been off limits all week and I miss it!! Me!! I would have never ever thought that was possible. I miss getting beat up working out and just feeling great when I get home.

I really felt like I was on the right track to get healthy, but with this operation I feel like I'm back at the beginning. Since I can't work out, I've been trying to get my eating in order and I've been a major fail. Even with eating all the right foods I keep going over in calories! It's driving me crazy!!!

I know it's going to take a long time to change my eating habits, but I wish I would be able to make some progress. I'm going on vacation in a few weeks and I would love it if I could lose like 10 pounds before then. Just 10 pounds! At least then I know I was moving in the right direction.

Ugh. Today is just a sucky day. I'm just frustrated with everything.

Hopefully tomorrow is better.

I want to be a foodie

One of my favorite channels is the Food Network. I LOVE watching cooking shows and all the other programs they have. Unwrapped, Best Thing I Ever Ate, and Diners drive-ins and dives are my favorites.

I like to pretend I’m a foodie while watching these shows. I tell myself that I’m going to download these recipes and try them out myself. In my head I’m this amazing cook that can whip up these things no sweat.

The problem?

I’m a horribly picky eater. Seriously. If you ever saw what’s on my plate you’d think I was five years old.

I hate that I’m so picky. I want to break myself of this horrible habit, but I don’t really know how. I want to be able to make these amazing dishes that I see, but when I see an ingredient that I don’t like I stop myself.

Also because of this, I eat crap food. I want to eat healthier so I get my body in better shape, inside and out. I was thinking about maybe going to see a nutritionist but I feel like that’s a waste of money. However I basically need to re-teach myself how I perceive and eat food.

Have you ever had a bad eating habit? How did you break it or how do you incorporate more vegetables and fruits into your diet?
