This past weekend officially marked the start of summer for me. Sure most people look to Memorial Day as the start, but for me summer doesn’t start until I hit the beach for the first time.
That’s exactly what I did on Saturday. It was so hot and humid out, it was the perfect day to hit the beach. Surprisingly there was no traffic getting to the beach. I live pretty close to the beach but usually as I get closer to one of the bridges, that takes me to the actual beach, I always hit some kind of traffic on the weekends. It was weird to not hit any traffic and for there to be so few cars on the road at that time. Then when we got to the beach, we found out that it was FREE that day!!! Talk about the perfect way to kick off the day and the summer for me!!!!
The beach was lovely. The weather channel said it was supposed to rain but it couldn’t have been more gorgeous at the beach. I can get antsy at the beach if I sit still for too long, but I had a book so I was set for the day.
It was so hot though that you had to go in the water. It was freezing, but felt refreshing after baking in the sun. Plus I’m a total water girl, so I can’t NOT go swimming if I am near a body of water.
The only downside to the day was the sunburn and weird tan lines I got. I never ever can just get an even tan. I always get weird tan lines and sunburns, so that my skin looks freaky all summer long. Last year my left foot got burned the first day in the sun so for the rest of the summer my foot just kept on getting darker and darker and the rest of my leg couldn’t catch up. It looked dirty by the end of the summer. lol. This year, my bathing suit had a ring where the strap goes through to go up around your neck halter style. So of course I got a little red dot on Saturday on my chest. lol. Also I did a terrible job at putting the sunscreen on the back of my legs so they are all splotchy. It’s pretty sexy. ;)
What event or activity signals the start of summer for you?
On a quest to find out who I really am, and using this as a tool and motivation to go after it.

On a lighter note
So after the last post, which I so badly wanted to take down right after I posted, I decided to share 2 stories that would seriously only happen to me…
1) I’ve been tanning in order to get myself ready, that way when I do go away on vacation I won’t burn and have the whole trip ruined. So I’ve been tanning, and after being completely burned the first time, I haven’t really gotten any red. Just a nice tan. However, for some reason the areas where I ended up peeling from that first burn have become extra tan. So my back now resembles a Dalmatian dog! I have one big spot in the middle of my back that is super dark and then other spots around my back that are equally as dark, but the rest of my back is lighter. Needless to say it looks ridiculous. ALSO I have one spot in-between my boobs, that is a big circle that again is much tanner then the rest of my body! So just in case you thought that when you go tanning you get a nice even tan with no lines. WELL your wrong! And I can’t seem to fix the situation. I’ve covered and put lotion on the darker spots, but the rest of my body doesn’t seem to be catching up! So most likely for the rest of the summer I will look like a spotted dog. But for some reason, instead of being really upset I find it hilarious so I’m not letting it bother me too much.
2) The other day I went to the gas station to fill up my car.. While I was waiting for the attendant to come over I was playing with my debit card. So there I was acting like a kid, and I was tapping the card on the door where the window is. All of a sudden the card dropped and feel INTO my car door. It fell where the window goes down, and I heard it drop way down to the bottom. There was no way for me to be able to get it back, unless someone was willing to take my door apart without charging me a ton of money. So luckily I had money on me, so I filled up the tank and went home to report my card lost. I felt so stupid that I didn’t want to tell the truth about what happened. But the guy started asking all these questions about my past transactions that I finally had to tell him that it’s not exactly lost, it’s in a place that I can’t reach it. So the guy held back a giggle and helped me get a new card. Then I had to wait for the card to come and had barely any available cash on me until then. But I finally got the card and all is back to normal. Expect when I tell this to people they just can’t understand how I did that. In all honesty I can’t either.
I defiantly have more stories like this, but I’ll save them for a rainy day when I can’t think of anything to write.

What did you do this weekend?
So this past weekend was really nice. I did a lot of shopping on Saturday; I had to get a dress for a wedding and also a bathing suit for my upcoming vacation. But not only did I get those, I bought crap load of other stuff! I went to town on Saturday and it was so much fun. I got a lot of clothes for the summer so I won’t melt and also, one lady was very nice to me and gave me a coupon to take $50 dollars off my entire order. That made my day soo much better. The only thing I needed was to get shorts. And I know what your thinking: shorts are one of the most unflattering item of clothing ever invented and I do agree with you. Except I am totally obsessed with walking shorts. They are much more flattering that other shorts cause they fall at the knee, not ending at a random spot near your thigh to make it look huge, and they are slim, making you leg appear slim not huge like some other shorts out there. But unfortunately I could not find one decent pair of shorts anywhere! All of them were either too long, or short and almost all of them were unbelievably wide. Which is upsetting cause I want to not sweat all summer in jeans but at the same time I don’t want to look bigger than I already am. So that was frustrating, but I didn’t let it ruin my day.
Also on Saturday I went tanning. I know it’s really bad for you, but I am going on vacation in like 3 weeks and if I don’t have a base I will become a lobster and won’t be able to go out in the sun for the whole trip. So instead I bought 6 tanning sessions to get myself ready. When I got there, they lady actually took a Laser fingerprint of me, and that’s how I check in every time now. I couldn’t believe that a tanning salon has this kind of technology. I guess it makes sense to do it in order to protect someone from using my sessions, but couldn’t they have taken my picture or something?? Oh well, I told my mom that if something were to happen to me, she could always get my fingerprint from the tanning salon. Anyway since it was my first time tanning I knew I was going to get a little burned. So I went in for 10 minutes and when I went home it didn’t even look like I got color. WELL, come next morning and I am a lobster. My back is fire engine red, my face a tomato, and my stomach looks like a flamingo. I am in so much pain, that it hurts to sleep. If anyone has ever been tanning, you know that a tanning bed burn is a different kind of pain than if you were just in the sun. So I am in pain, and everyone at my job is making fun of me. All in good fun, but seriously every time I sit or stand I want to cry. I know that it is better to get burned now than when I’m on vacation, but I forgot just how painful this could be. And like the idiot that I am, I will be going tanning again as soon as this burn goes away. Ahh the sacrifices I make for my happiness.
