Great way to kick off the summer!! (Pics)

This weekend flew by for me. It was so much fun though and is making me look forward to this summer and all that it holds for me!!

Friday I went to a PBA Ball. Basically it was an excuse to dress up and eat my face off. There was an open bar too, but I decided to not partake being that I was running a 5 mile race the next morning. It was a lot of fun though. I enjoyed watching other people get tipsy and make fools of themselves. I sadly didn't get to win any of the raffle prizes though. My heart was set on a 4 pack to Disney, which would have been perfect since I'm going there in October! Despite that, I had a blast.

All dressed up and ready to dance!

I didn't get home until Midnight and because of the race the next day I was so nervous I didn't fall asleep until 2! I got about 4 hours of sleep before I had to head out for the race. This was my first 5 mile race. It's called the Spring Lake 5 and it's a HUGE race here in NJ. About 10,000 people run this race every year. I've never seen anything like it before. Total craziness.

You felt like cattle at the start of the race. So many people packed in together. It was hard to start too, after a few zig zags I was able to break away and get a good pace going. It was really hot though. I had never ran in such heat before, it's a total shock to your body. By mile 2 I wanted it to be over and done. It was then that I stopped worrying about my time and just focused on NOT walking. I really wanted to get under 50 minutes but I wasn't going to kill myself. This race was really cool though, all along the course they were blasting music and there were fire trucks spraying water at you at every mile. Which was heaven to me.

I am happy to say I did not walk and finished in 49:31!!! Yay!! I got under 50 minutes. I'm so proud that I didn't quit and I made my goal. If it had been cooler I know I got have gotten a better time, but I'll take this. Also I knew a woman who has been a runner all her life and I came in a good 6 minutes before her. That made my day.

After the race, I rushed home, took a shower and headed up north to my cousins graduation party. The difference in weather was crazy! It was bright and sunny in my town, an hour north at my cousin's party it was pouring rain and thundering. Thankfully they had a giant tent set up so we didn't get wet. It was great to see my family. I had some family come up from Florida who I hadn't seen in a while. I was exhausted though. I tried to sneak upstairs for a nap, but it was way too noisy. I still had a lot of fun, but was happy when we got back on the road.

My mom and grandma! and me beat red from sunburn. lol

After we got back, I stopped by a friend's BBQ for a little. I cut out early and headed home for some much needed sleep. I slept in on Sunday until 10:30. That never happens to me! I guess my body really needed that sleep. I spent Sunday being lazy and did some shopping. I just needed me time that day.

Monday I went to the beach! I had to. It was beautiful out and even though it was crazy crowded I had to kick off my summer with a trip there. I bought a season pass and I really hope to get good use out of it this year! I love the beach. It's like home to me.

How did you kick off your summer?

Crazy Weekend (with pictures!)

This past weekend was so much fun, but it went by way too fast.

Saturday I ran a 5K. The weather was beautiful but really hot to run in. I still ended up with a really good time. I finished in 27:06! Another PR for me! Yay!! This event was the very first 5K I did almost exactly a year ago. Last year I ran it in 39:55. Which means in one year I've managed to shave almost 14 minutes from my 5K time! I couldn't imagine running this fast back then. I really still can't believe I can run at the pace I do now.

Here is a picture of me before the race.

After the race I went to a little BBQ at what may be the most beautiful house I've ever been in my entire life. The husband owns a construction company and built this house. I can't even begin to tell you how awesome it was. In their basement he built a full bar, like you would see out. And there was a mini movie theater that had individual seats that reclined back. It was like an episode of Cribs. Their backyard, they had a HUGE rock climbing wall and zip lines! It was crazy. I couldn't stay long though, which sucked cause I wanted to try the wall out. Hopefully I'll get to go back there.

Then on Saturday I drove down to Baltimore. I stayed at my friends house while we prepared for the shower. We put favors together and got our crafting on. While eating pizza and watching Disney movies. It was pretty awesome. lol

Sunday as the Bridal Shower. It was a really nice little shower. It was great seeing everyone and catching up with my friends.

The Bride (second from left) and bridesmaids

I just really like this picture of me. lol

The four of us lived in the same dorm freshman year. We are still close friends after all this time!

After the cake was served and people started to leave I had to head back home. There was a TON of traffic. It took me close to 5 hours to get home. It would have taken longer, I saw more traffic on the parkway when I was supposed to get on. However I knew back roads and was able to avoid that all together. I was pretty cranky when I got home. That traffic pretty much sealed the deal for me. I'm going to be taking the train down for the wedding. I don't want to deal with that again.

I'm pretty tired still. I barely got any sleep this past weekend. And this weekend will be just as busy for me. I'm hoping I'll get to relax on Sunday though. Fingers crossed!

Bullett Points

  • My car was fixed! It looks amazing. I had a really sweet rental too while it was at the shop. They gave me a Nissan Altima and it was really fun to drive for 4 days. Although I was super happy to get my car back! It looks so shiny and new again. lol

  • This past weekend I went up to visit my grandmother for mother's day. It was just me, my mom and aunt. It was so beautiful out and as a surprise my grandma ended up making homemade manicotti! Heaven!!

  • That night I had my monthly fancy pants dinner. The food was out of this world! Then we all went out for a few drinks. It was a really nice evening and I love having these monthly dinners. It's turning into something I am always really looking forward to doing.

  • This weekend is my friend's bridal shower. I am excited to see all my friends. It's been a while since I last saw them. I have my dress all picked out. I love any excuse to get dressed up. lol. Before I head down to Balimore on Saturday, I'm running a 5K that morning! I hope I do well and I hope I won't be too tired on the drive down.

  • Speaking of the wedding, I have my shoes for the wedding. They need to be broken in but everytime I'm home I am just wearing them while on the couch. I'm debating on wearing them to work one day. lol. I'll look like a goofball but at least I know I'm breaking them in. What do you think?

  • I feel like I have more to say, but can't seem to find the words. Hopefully I can do a better blog later! It's crazy for me this month and I feel like I have have any time to do anything. I am in desperate need to get a pedicure, but have no time on the weekends. So now I'm trying to go during lunch sometime this week. I am looking forward to things calming down soon.

My first mudrun! With lots of pictures

It finally happened. I did a mud run! A crazy 5 mile obstacle course that was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I can barely move my body today, but I had a blast!! And I can't wait to do the next one!

There was a ton of people from my gym who did the race. We all took a giant yellow school bus down to the stadium. We had such a large group, we won a contest at race and got an obstacle named after us!

Here we all are before the race began.

That's me climbing up a hill

Helping my friends over a wall

That's me climbing over the wall!
It hurt a lot coming down. My face says it all
Here we are getting out of those tubes. There were half filled with water! One of my friends said it was like the scene in Shawshank Redemption, but without the poop. lol

Here I am running through the electrical wires, trying to not get zapped.

Didn't work. I got zapped a few times and went down when one hit my knee. lol

We are about a half a mile from the finish line and still have a smile on our faces!

I finished in one hour and 23 minutes!! I am so crazy proud of myself!

Not that muddy after the water but pretty gross all the same. Couldn't wait to get changed!

This is something I'll never forget. There were so many obstacles that I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to do. Like climbing over those walls or up and over a cargo net!! But I did them all (expect for the monkey bars!) and finished strong! Even this time last year I could have never imagined doing something like this. I hadn't even run my first 5K yet and here I am doing a 5 mile obstacle course! Amazing!
