With the good comes the bad...

Life for me the past few months have been pretty great. There was some bumps but in general it's been pretty fab. Well I knew sooner or later something bad had to happen.

I was in a car accident two days ago. I was sitting at a red lady and a woman smashed into me when she was trying to make a right turn. No one was hurt thankfully but the damage on my car is a lot. Plus I hate accidents. I was shaking all day long after it happened.

I got the estimate yesterday and it's going to cost over $2,500 to fix! Thankfully this accident wasn't my fault so I am not responsible for any payments. However the other people are upset to say the least at how much it'll cost to fix it. They wanted to pay out of pocket and they had assumed the damage would only be a few hundred dollars. Now that we are in the thousands they will need to go through insurance. However they want me to go for another opinion. Which is fine, but I also don't want this repair to take forever.

I'm going to be travelling a lot starting in about 3 weeks. That's my time frame. It needs to be done by then. The man at the shop already told me the repair will take at least 5 days to get done. Meaning we need to get this show on the road. I emailed him the estimate and now I'm waiting for him to get back to me on what the next step will be. Hopefully they won't be difficult.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear you are ok. Isn't it crazy how much it costs to fix a car.

Carolyn, I am glad you are okay!!
But seriously you need to go through your insurance company and make them deal with this. You are playing nice by only talking with them. Too bad so sad for them. You have rights here. You are allowing them to do it their way. They were wrong. Then again maybe they are doing this because they don't have insurance.
I don't know the laws where you live but that is illegal here. Also you don't have to get more than one opinion and your insurance company can walk you through this. Don't let them control this Carolyn. You pay a lot for insurance - let them take over now.
Best of luck to you.
